#1 Way to Show Truck Driver Appreciation

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, September 8-14, 2019. This is the time of year when everyone involved in the transportation industry, as well as the general public, has the opportunity to recognize truck drivers for all they do. There are over 3.5 million professional men and women working in the trucking industry to deliver our goods safely, securely and on time.

Keeping America Moving
Professional truck drivers are the backbone of America.  These drivers work for fleets of all sizes and each one plays an important role.  While the daily duties of truck drivers go far beyond what we could ever list here, National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, for us, is a time for us to pause and recognize the sacrifices that are made each day.  The time away from home, the tight deadlines and the generosity shown in times of tragedy.  Driving in adverse weather conditions, traveling early in the morning and late at night.  These drivers are always moving forward, so we can keep doing so as well.

Showing the Appreciation
So the question remains, how can we show appreciation for all that drivers do for us? Well, one of the best things you can do as a Fleet Manager is to provide drivers with quality, well-maintained equipment. This shows drivers that you truly care about their safety and well-being while out on the road. The bottom line is trucking is a tough industry. And many other fleets out there just aren’t taking care of drivers the way they should when it comes to making sure all routine maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely, thorough fashion.

By hiring a company like Dickinson Fleet Services to maintain all of your trucks, not only will you have peace of mind knowing that your vehicles will be achieving maximum uptime and minimum downtime, you’ll also be sending a message to your drivers that they matter to you. Think about how good a driver will feel knowing that you are on top of taking care of things such as brakes, tires and so much more.

Under our “Maintenance Select Program” Dickinson Fleet Services offers the resources and the technology to establish a regional or national service network for your fleet management. At Dickinson, we will deliver top-notch service for you by providing our technicians with complete training on the PM process, proper repair procedures, communicating with customers, and delivering meaningful nightly summary reports. This information is all e-mailed to customers nightly as the jobs are being worked, helping them control their costs and plan their deliveries for the next day.

Not only is this allowing you to show appreciation for your truck drivers, but it’s also making life easier for you, the Fleet Manager, knowing that everything is handled and you’re always aware of the budget.
