2018 Top Tech Competition Winners Circle Announced

Once again, our group of technicians challenged themselves to perform at the highest level during the last round of the event in Indianapolis, Indiana. This year, we had 10 finalists were competing from our Truck Division and we had another 4 finalists representing our Trailer Division. It was a great time for all involved and we couldn’t be more proud of this group. Here’s a look this year’s top finishers…

Next Step – 2018 TMC SuperTech

We’re pleased to announce that Jeremy and Darren will join Jose Feliciano (2017 Champion) and Jeff Brinkman (2016 Champion) to represent Dickinson Fleet Services at the 2018 TMC SuperTech competition this September in Orlando, FL. TMC SuperTech is North America’s premier skills competition for professional commercial vehicle technicians. TMC SuperTech contestants come from all segments of the trucking industry, and many are state, regional or corporate champions to compete in this 2 day event.

TMC also announced earlier this year that they have launched a new competition track for light and medium duty vehicles in 2018. While the 2018 Top Tech competition this year did not feature a light and medium duty competition track, a scoring template was created to measure light and medium duty skills knowledge (scores) against certain criteria. These scores were reviewed by the Competition Committee to see how they stacked up against those light and medium duty criteria. After review, Dickinson Fleet chose Zach Nikorak of E Pennsylvania Mobile to represent the Company as its Light and Medium Duty track candidate for the 2018 TMC SuperTech competition. While Zach does not carry the title of Top Tech, he will join the other Dickinson Top Techs at SuperTech in Orlando this September.

IndyCar Grad Prix Celebration

To cap off another great year of the Top Tech competition, the finalists spent Friday and Saturday at the track for the IndyCar Grand Prix, courtesy of the Title sponsor, Cooper Tires. This was a complete first class experience including:

  • One finalist had the opportunity to way the Green flag
  • One finalist had the opportunity to way the Checker flag
  • One finalist had the opportunity to present the trophy in the Winner’s circle
  • One finalist had the opportunity to say, “gentlemen start your engines!” on National TV with lower thirds for each tech on screen during National TV broadcast
  • The Top Tech from both the Truck Division and the Trailer Division rode in the pace car for the Parade lap. One on Friday and One on Saturday.
  • VIP treatment with VIP Tent, Breakfast, Lunch, Indy Lights Garage Tours, Pit access provided by Andersen Promotions and sponsored by Cooper Tire and Rubber company

As if that wasn’t enough, all wives got to enjoy a complete spa experience and financial planning seminar (no sales pitch, Wealth Planning tips).  And on Friday night, one group was treated to go kart racing at Fast Times while the other saw the Flying Toasters live at 32 taps.  Talk about a great way to celebrate another year of hard work pulling off such an incredible event!

The Road to TMC SuperTech

Now, we once again come together as a company to rally behind our Top Techs as they prepare for TMC SuperTech in September.  The great thing about the Top Tech competition is that it not only allows our finalists to prepare for the next level competition, but it gives ALL of our participants the opportunity to identify areas where they can improve and strengthen their skill set.  Please join us as a company as we encourage our incredible as they all continue to raise their game.
