Every industry is determining how data will transform or disrupt traditional business models, and dealers are no different. Whether it’s Big Data or hyper-local targeting, new analytics and data-backed solutions can influence the effectiveness and efficiency of the entire dealership. How can we use what we know about prices and preferences to make vehicle acquisition smarter and easier? Can we bring the right data together to answer burning questions like advertising attribution? Is there a logarithm that could spit out unique VIN-level sales prices for each shopper? Event synopsis
The Cox Automotive Used Car Market Report and Outlook has been reinvented and expanded beyond the well-known Manheim Used Car Market Report.

The 2018 report maintains the decades-long tradition of packing its pages with exhaustive data, smart insights and keen observations about the industry, with an careful eye on the future.  It analyzes data and trends from 2017, which was another good year for the industry, and examines how 2017 set the industry up for the year ahead, which is expected to see higher used-car sales, another minor dip in new-car sales and some strengthening headwinds, including technological advances and evolving consumer expectations.

The 2018 Cox Automotive Used Car Market Report and Outlook pulls together data and insight from every corner of Cox Automotive.  Combined with years of experience and millions of touch points with clients, the report offers practical, insightful tips to help Cox Automotive clients better operate their businesses in these fast-changing times.

Dealers can turn this risk into an opportunity by improving operational efficiency, increasing inventory turn and optimizing CPO strategy. Cox Automotive’s chief economist, Jonathan Smoke, will discuss how this record influx of inventory will impact the entire automotive marketplace while also examining economic indicators, credit and other vital topics and trends affecting the industry in the years to come.
