Lindland says it is important to put the easing of rules into perspective. This provides an opportunity to more closely align the regulations with consumer demand and what we are seeing in the marketplace. She goes on to say that back in 2012 when these regulations were put into place, sedans were much more popular and that the split of new-vehicle sales between trucks, crossovers and SUVs was much different than it is today.
We are making improvements in overall fuel economy and are at 24.5 MPG on average. Automobile manufacturers will continue to produce vehicles with greater mile per gallon efficiencies. To hear more, listen to the full episode.
