Dickinson Introduces Top Tech Award – Competition Heating Up
Dickinson Fleet Services is kicking off an inaugural program here in 2016 to recognize its most talented technicians. Things are heating up as the regional competition and qualifiers for the Top Tech Finals have been going throughout the month of June, with the finals taking place in Indianapolis in July.
How the Top Tech Program Works
Eligible participants for the Dickinson Top Tech award are selected from more than 400 technicians based on criteria including strength of on-the-job technical knowledge, diagnostic skill, quality workmanship and outstanding customer service performance. These technicians participate in training and sub-region qualifying events before advancing to the next round.
During the regional competitions in Indianapolis, Dallas, Atlanta, Pennsburg and Orlando, participants must make it through very intense rounds of written assessments and hands-on challenges. Ten finalists will be selected to advance and have a shot at the title of Dickinson’s Top Tech during the final part of the competition held during July in Indianapolis. This will be held in conjunction with NASCAR race weekend, with the finalists and their guests having the opportunity to attend the Brickyard 400 while enjoying company events and relaxation.
Dickinson’s Top Tech
The finals will be made up of hands-on skill tests which include vehicle electronics, preventive maintenance, air conditioning and emissions. Additionally, there will be more written assessment involved before the winner of the Dickinson Top Tech award can be crowned. In addition to being named the “Dickinson Top Tech,” the top finisher will receive a cash prize as will the other finalists.
TMC SuperTech Nationals
The Dickinson Top Tech skills competition is setup to be very similar to the SuperTech Nationals competition which takes place this October in Raleigh, North Carolina. This move is very intentional as the winner of Dickinson’s inaugural Top Tech title will go on to compete head-to-head at SuperTech Nationals. This is a big deal as this technician will be representing Dickinson Fleet while competing alongside the most skilled technicians in the industry. This is truly the best of the best.
Perks for the Top Tech Winner
In addition to being named the first “Top Tech” and receiving cash prizes, the Dickinson Top Tech and their guest will also be treated to a three night luxury hotel stay on North Carolina’s Outer Banks (including expenses) for more rest, relaxation and recreation following the competition.
Beginning of a Tradition
The inaugural Top Tech competition is the beginning of what company owners and leadership at Dickinson hopes will be a longstanding tradition. This purely voluntary competition is meant to encourage active, enthusiastic participation and support among all team/ family members involved.
