Ready for a Remote FMCSA Safety Audit?

Is your fleet ready for a remote safety audit?  Well, if you’re new to the industry it’ll now be coming within the first 12 months of operation. These new offsite safety audits do not require a safety auditor to schedule an in-person visit to the carrier’s office. The way it works is that the carrier will log in and upload to an FMCSA platform specified digital records, which are then reviewed by the agency. This information includes:
  • Driver qualification files
  • Drug and alcohol testing records
  • Hours of service (HOS) records
  • Vehicle inspections
  • Vehicle permits and registration
  • Insurance
Don’t take any chances with failing a remote FMCSA safety audit, especially when it comeas to vehicle inspections.  It is important to make sure that all maintenance is done properly to prevent any unnecessary downtime.  This is where Dickinson Fleet Services can help with our mobile maintenance and repair services. This will make sure you stay on top of things like:
  • Operating a vehicle declared out-of-service (OOS) for safety deficiencies before repairs are made
  • Not performing OOS repairs reported in driver-vehicle inspection reports (DVIRs)
  • Operating a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) not periodically inspected
With our Mobile Repair Trucks, the industry’s top mechanics come to you,.  This means all needed maintenance will be done on-site at your location, on your schedule.  At Dickinson Fleet Services, we currently have over 400 mobile trucks visiting our customers nightly in nearly every major city in the country. Each DFS tech truck is equipped with state-of-the-art tools which enable our expert technicians to perform preventative maintenance (PM) inspections and follow up repairs. Here are some reasons to choose Dickinson Fleet Services for your maintenance needs:
  • Your truck never leaves your lot
  • DVIR’s are handled on site for improved driver moral
  • Safety items are handled on site without taking the truck out of service
  • Same tech works on your trucks and knows your needs
  • We keep you current on our PM’s
  • We find issues before they become costly repairs
  • Tech has access to truck repair history to see what has been repaired
With the introduction of these new offsite safety audits, FMCSA will be able to monitor more carriers and determine their ability to operate safely from a remote location.  This is even more of a reason to make sure all your ducks are in a row with maintenance and repair needs.
