1st Annual Dickinson Fleet Top Tech Competition Recap
July 22nd, 23rd & 24th wrapped up our 1st Annual Top Tech competition. The company owners and leadership at Dickinson couldn’t be more happy with the way things turned out and are looking forward to making this a yearly tradition. It was a very tight competition and a great time was had by all. Let’s take a look at the recap…
July 22nd – Final Competition & Dinner
During the day of July 22nd, the Top 10 technicians from each region competed in the finals in Indianapolis, Indiana for the title of “Top Tech.” All of the Top 10 made their way through entry level exams, passed, semi finals tests and took on the 10 challenge stations at the finals.
In the end, out of 220 points available, there was only a 20 point spread within the entire field and only 1 point separated the 1st runner up from the Top Tech title. Talk about a close race!
Following the competition, it was time for a company celebration. The Top 10 finalists were all treated to a nice dinner at Fogo De Chão Brazilian Steakhouse in Indianapolis for all-you-can-eat meat carved tableside plus an extensive salad bar. During this time, the competition winners were announced and awards were handed out. It was a great evening for all.
And the winners were…
Top Tech – Jeff Brinkman, Cincinnati Region
1st Runner Up – Jose Feliciano, Orlando Region
2nd Runner Up – Jacob Woolliy, Houston Mobile Region
Since just 1 point separated Jose Feliciano from Jeff Brinkman, Dickinson will send both the 1st Runner up and the Top Tech to the TMC SuperTech 2016 in Raleigh, NC September 18th -21st.
In addition to being named the first “Top Tech” and receiving cash prizes, Jeff Brinkmann and his guest will also be treated to a three night luxury hotel stay on North Carolina’s Outer Banks (including expenses) for more rest, relaxation and recreation following the competition.

July 23rd & 24th – Police Escort to Brickyard 400 Suite
To put an exclamation point on an incredible weekend, the Dickinson Fleet Team and Top 10 finalists got to enjoy both Saturday and Sunday of the Brickyard 400 from a suite..complete with a police escort! It doesn’t get any better than that. The Dickinson Team watched as 40 drivers competed for the prestigious title of Brickyard 400 Champion. Overall, for Kyle Busch led a race-record 149 of 170 laps, and took home the title for a second year in a row.

A Weekend to Remember
The weekend of July 23rd & 24th was definitely one to remember for the company. But it was everything leading up to that point that made the 1st Annual Top Tech competition possible. The hard work and dedication of ALL of our employees, not just those competing. The willingness of our technicians to go above and beyond. And most importantly the camaraderie and support that was shown throughout it all.
On To SuperTech Nationals
Our Top Tech and 2nd Place Finishers are off to SuperTech Nationals, so let’s all get ready to cheer them on! These 2 technicians will be representing Dickinson Fleet while competing alongside the most skilled technicians in the industry and we couldn’t be more proud. The Dickinson Top Tech skills competition was setup to be very similar to the SuperTech Nationals competition and we hope all of the practice pays off this October in Raleigh, North Carolina. We will be posting more updates and photos right here on the company news section of our site to let you know how they finish.
Let’s Do It Again Next Year!
We want to give a big “THANK YOU” to everyone who made it all possible. We look forward to doing it all again next year and making it even better!
