Cox Automotive Joins the Automotive Press Association’s Real-Time Auto Intelligence Webinar
Friday May 2, 2025
The automotive industry has been significantly influenced by new tariffs over the past month. During a 100-day rally in Michigan, President Trump highlighted the achievements of the tariff initiative and provided new policy clarifications, bringing some relief to automakers and parts suppliers. These tariffs have been a pivotal topic since the early days of the current administration, and the narrative continues to evolve.
On May 1, Cox Automotive Chief Economist Jonathan Smoke and Executive Analyst Erin Keating presented Automotive Press Association (APA) members with the latest data and insights on the impact of these sudden and substantial automotive tariffs on the U.S. vehicle market and the broader economy. This presentation was part of the APA’s Real-time Auto Intelligence Update webinar series. They also discussed the recent policy adjustments announced by the White House on April 29 and projected how these changes will affect the auto industry and consumers in the second quarter and beyond.
