Dealership Service Revenue Hits Record in April with Less Activity, according to Xtime Metrics

Service revenue increased at U.S. franchised dealerships in April on fewer repair order tickets, according to the latest Cox Automotive analysis of Xtime metrics. The Repair Order Volume Index decreased month over month in April. Meanwhile, the Repair Order Revenue Index increased month over month to the highest level for the index, dating back to January 2018.

The monthly Xtime volume and revenue metrics are designed to showcase average service department performance over time, with the information indexed to January 2019. The two, top-line measures provide a glimpse into service department performance at franchised dealerships in the U.S. Xtime, a Cox Automotive brand, provides software that helps auto dealers facilitate more than 10 million service appointments monthly.

The April Repair Order Volume Index was down 5.7% month over month from March, at 88.1 and was down 3.8% from April 2021.

The average revenue generated per repair order rose for the fifth consecutive month after leveling off in November 2021. At 126.9, the Repair Order Revenue Index for April was up 9.5% year over year and up 0.7% from March.
