Atlanta, GA — Women in Technology (WIT) is delighted to announce that nominations are now open for the 2015 Women of the Year in Technology (WOTY) Awards. Sponsored by Cox Automotive, a leading provider of digital marketing, wholesale and e-commerce solutions across the automotive industry, WOTY celebrates women technology executives for their accomplishments as leaders in business, visionaries of technology and women who make a difference in their communities.

Co-chairs for the 2015 WIT Women of the Year are Jackie Breiter, 2012 WOTY winner and Associate Dean, Technology Services, Goizueta Business School, Emory University; and Janet Barnard, 2014 WOTY winner and President of Manheim North America.

“Being recognized with the 2014 WOTY Award was such an amazing honor,” said Barnard.  “Through this experience, I have been inspired by the important contributions women are making in their businesses and their communities. I am excited to act as the Co-Chair of this year’s WOTY event and offer Cox Automotive’s support as presenting sponsor.  We are committed to investing in efforts that recognize leadership, innovation and educational initiatives that position women for future career success.”

According to Cherie Fuzzell, CEO of Parkmobile and 2014 WOTY winner, “I was honored to receive this prestigious award. WIT is doing tremendous work supporting women at every stage of their STEM careers from the classroom to the boardroom.  It’s a privilege to be associated with such an impactful organization.”

From Sandy D. Welfare, Executive Director of WIT, “WIT’s Women of the Year winners are the reason why Georgia has so many companies moving to our state. Their leadership has propelled Georgia businesses to be well-positioned for the technology disruption taking place in the metro Atlanta region, throughout our nation and around the world. The WOTY awards is an opportunity to acknowledge women at the front lines of the 21st century technology evolution.”

To qualify, nominees must hold business or STEM leadership roles within a technology organization in Georgia or they must maintain STEM leadership positions within a non-technology organization. Winners will be announced in three categories:

  • Large/Enterprise Business, representing companies with more than 2,500 employees
  • Medium/Mid-Size Business, representing companies with 251 to 2,500 employees and Educational Institutions
  • Small/Emerging Business, representing companies with 250 employees or less

The short nomination form used for initial selection is now open. Individuals can be nominated by peers or friends, or nominate themselves until Friday, August 7, 2015. Once selected as a nominee, a long form detailing accomplishments is required for judging. A selection committee comprised of former finalists, technology executives and representatives of WIT narrow the pool of nominees to three finalists in each of the three categories, based on the merits of their applications. One winner from each category will be announced at the November 19, 2015 gala event.
